Dad winterizing my house while the snow covers his tracks | Harrison Miller

He called me, to see if I was home. The snow had just begun to fall. It's hard to know the weather in East Tennessee before it's already here, and it was here and it was starting to get worse. He and I always put things off until the last minute. I got it from him, and it's like a birthmark I wear with a mixture of shame and pride—that this is one of those things I take from him, I'll notice everyday as I rush to work because I didn't leave on time, and I'll think of him and it makes me angry, and sometimes it makes me smile. I heard his van in my driveway. I grabbed my camera before I walked out the door—certain that this would be something to see.
